Los Angeles will be the cultural capital of the millenium. This statement was recently made by LAs vice-president of cultural tourism who then went on to state that there are more majour musseums per head of population in LA than in other US city (300 to be precise), not to mention more artists, writers, film-maker, actors, dancers and musicians than in any other city in the history of civilisation. One of Earth’s few landforms visible from space, the Grand Canyon of the Colorado River slices through 277 miles of Northwestern Arizona. The Grand Canyon is considered one of the natural wonders of the world largely because of its natural features.
There are approximately 1,737 known species of vascular plants, 167 species of fungi, 64 species of moss and 195 species of lichen found in Grand Canyon National Park. Of the the 34 mammal species found along the Colorado River corridor, 15 are rodents and eight are bats.
Grand Canyon National Park is one of the worlds premier natural attractions, attracting about five million visitors per year.
